New features available in Atmail 6.0.9

New features are now available in Atmail 6.0.9. This includes additional features ported from Atmail 5, and further enhancements to the Admin and Webmail interfaces.

Atmail 6.0.9 marks an important milestone in the release cycle - We now have all the core administration features ported from Atmail 5, and have further refined the Webmail interface from client feedback. The current codebase is further enhanced and stable - We recommend existing customers make the switch to the new version and start enjoying the new interface and feature-set.
New Features:
- Admin
- Subadmin now has the ability to define and manage email aliases at their domain(s)
- Webadmin now includes a Mail-relay feature to manage SMTP access. Includes the ability to define IP subnets via the Webadmin, no need to edit the Exim configure file directly!
- Groupware
- Domain based groupware now available. Users can view the GAL and shared calendar, only to users at the login domain. Site-wide groupware also available
- Calendar Client
- New permission interface to assign a shared calendar to other users on the system. Includes auto-complete lookup.
- Webmail Client
- New attachment upload support for the quick-reply feature
- New inline attachment support in message view panel
- Added ability to search Global and Shared address-books via the Webmail interface
- Expanded email options with Print, Download Email and View header options

- Removed unused jQuery plugins
- Improved installer for Ubuntu and Suse Linux compatibility
- Improvements in Webmail and Admin panel for IE
- Added larger more descriptive attachment icons
- Improved compose panel to automatically expand to the window height
- Fixed various issues for rendering Webmail in IE7
- API
- Expanded the API functions with Aliases support
- Revised internals so that API model no longer uses exceptions for errors but instead returns array resulting in same structured XML REST response
- Calendar Server/Client
- New line support for Subject/Location
- Rewrite of calendar action binding
- All CalDAV encoding has been re-factored
- New calendar colors
- Calendar UI more consistent
- Now tracks container E-Tag on the fly, rather then reloading via the server
- Sped up refresh code and realignment code
- Significantly better event focus code
- Improved IE7 support for the Calendar
- Over 20 additional optimizations for Calendar interface, addressing performance, CalDAV responses and usability
- Migration
- Added checksum that existing database has been correctly upgraded to v5.62 schema, before running the Atmail 6 migration script.
- Fixed User-quota migration to MB for the new database schema
The next major update of Atmail , version 6.1 will include the last core features clients have been requesting. Atmail Websync working against the new CalDAV and Address-book backend, and LDAP support for authentication of local users. This will be available early to mid November 2009.
