 Atmail 5.7 Released

We are pleased to announce the release of the latest version in the Atmail 5.x series. The new Atmail 5.7 release fixes several bugs and also includes several new improvements for the 5.x series. We encourage our exisiting Atmail 5.x clients who cannot yet upgrade to the Atmail 6.x series to upgrade to this latest 5 series release. This latest version in the 5 series includes upgraded SpamAssassin* for improved Spam detection, upgraded ClamAV* for improved virus removal, improved internationalization and fixes XUL display for Firefox 3.x. A comprehensive list of changes is below.

The Atmail 5.x series will continue to be developed during 2010, with an eventual end of life in January 2011, beyond which no further releases in the 5.x series will be made and a switch to the 6.x series will be necessary if you wish to continue to receive important software updates. If your Atmail 5.x license has expired and you wish to renew for one more year please visit our license renewal page.

  • Added –encoding=utf-8 as an arg to aspell call to avoid problems with spellchecking some multi-byte chars
  • Fixed login page CSS layout issues for German language

  • fixed preferences drop down menu height for Japanese lang
  • set ja_JP.UTF-8 locale if Japanese language used
  • added debug flag for SQL.php, DB errors only written to apache error log if $pref[’db_debug’] = 1
  • Improved language support for calendar
  • Year select list on search form now dynamically created to always display most relevent date ranges
  • Added japanese support to html composer
  • Improved Japanese style date formatting
  • Added some missing tool tips
  • Added more language variables rather than using hard coded English for some strings
  • Language now remembered properly by “Remember Me” function
  • Added error message when a message cannot be saved
  • Clicking “delete auto-reply” button now actually removes the auto-reply from the DB rather than just clearing the textarea*
  • Folders now support the hash (#) character
  • Calendar appointments and tasks now support the hash (#) character
  • Draft messages now open correctly when using the Simple Interface [#1130]
  • Detects IE8 on login page and properly pre-selects the Advanced Interface
