Atmail 6.1.7 released - Improved performance, group email and recurrence support

April 15, 2010

With this release we focused mainly on fixing issues raised, and revising code to make the UI and backend faster to use. Two major new features are included, Address Book Group support from the message composer & recurrence ability in the Calendar for repeat events.

Latst 6.1.7 - Group email support , calendar recurrence and more
Atmail 6 now includes intelligent client-side caching of various data requested from the server further improving UI performance while reducing the load on the back-end server. Overall calendar performance has improved, and with UI caching now activated, the UI feels a lot quicker to use.

We have also enhanced the Webmail and Webadmin with additional new icons for actions and toolbars further refining the user-interface.

  • Contact Groups now available in the message composer auto-complete list
  • New language packs for Atmail - Arabic, Catalan, Simplified Chinese
  • New user-interface icons for the Webmail and Admin interface
  • Calendar back-end and Javascript code revised to improve performance

Improvements:

  • Client side Javascript caching implemented dramatically improving the speed and usability of the UI
  • Installer now properly handles more error events and environments
  • Warns if you try to send an email while attachments are still uploading
  • Various improvements to the Websync plugin for stability

Issues Fixed:

  • A host of small bugs in the backend and UI
  • Bugs in IMAP migration script fixed
  • Various XSS vulnerabilities fixed
  • Various UI issues in IE7 and IE8 fixed
  • Fixed login performance with calendar client UI
  • Improved cache removal function for atmail temporary directory

  2. Hi,

as we did already upgrade some minor releases ago, with the seemingly faulty upgrade script:

What issues regarding “Bugs in IMAP migration script fixed” have been fixed?

Are there some manual steps required for correcting the errors (and if yes: how can we check if we are affected?)

    Regards,

    Sebastian

  3. @Sebastian - The script migrate-imap.php was updated to correctly import messages via IMAP to local users. This is only used for batch migration purposes.

If you upgraded using the Atmail5 > Atmail6 script, this was not effected, the migrate-imap.php was not used.

  4. I see you have support for the iPhone on the calendar, but will it also support Blackberry and other smart phones?

Will tasks added via the calendar also sync with Thunderbird? Will they sync with Blackberry phones as well?

    Thank you,
    Steven

  5. @Steven - Currently we support CalDAV mobile devices for the Calendar. Tasks sync is also included via CalDAV.

Witin 3-4 months Activesync support will be released for Atmail, allowing Windows Mobile, Blackberry , and iPhones to sync Mail, Contacts & Calendar/Tasks data.

In the meantime, the current version supports CalDAV!

  6. Hello,

I’m planning to migrate atmail from version 5 to version6. I would like to forward some questions.
    1. Does the automated upgrade script will also automatically upgrade the PHP version?
    2. will also migrate the IMAP4 and all the e-mail contacts with their e-mail mailbox?
    3. Have you encountered any problems while using the version5 to version 6 upgrade script?

    Hoping to hear from you

  8. I have a confusing things with my mail server. when i looked at the web interface of the mail server, it states the version as@MAIL PHP5.5 and when i checked the VERSION file on the install directory /usr/local/atmail it shows 6.0.2b. I’m planning to migrate from version 5 to 6 with the assumption that the existing @mail version is 5. Can you pls help me to identify the version of my @mail server. in which directory/file can i get its version?

    Thank you
